This morning we fished....

This afternoon, we hiked

Some of us did a little swimming on the hike....

This wasn't today, but I adore this face ....

Most people can't understand the desire for a large family in this day and age.
This is my attempt, through stories, anecdotes, commentaries, links and pictures to show the world why we enjoy being a part of a large, unconventional and happy family, and how we manage to make it all work!

I am also a domestic violence survivor, and as such am constantly "working through" many things related to the fallout associated with such an experience. Many times "working through" to me means writing my feelings, sharing my story. Validating that I feel, act and love the way I do for a reason. You'll find some of that here, as well.

About Me

Angela
I am a divorced stay at home mother of six daughters, two sons and grandmother to one granddaughter and one grandson who also lives with us. My oldest daughter has a rare degenerative neurological disease called ALEXANDER'S DISEASE that effects approximately 400 people in the world. Shes doing reasonably well currently, but the nature of degenerative diseases guarantees that will not always be the case. I have an amazing significant other who is significantly younger than me...and we are so amazing together that if I had to be on the outside looking in, I'd probably hate us. It's a nice change from being in an abusive marriage, and I feel my children and I have earned the happiness =D I enjoy having a huge HUGE family, and if we could afford it, I would probably have as many children as possible. This isn't a religion or faith based decision, they are just quite simply the lights of my life, and I can't imagine who I would be without them. Along with many thoughtless, rude and intrusive comments, we hear "You sure have your hands full" daily...and all I can say in return is "Better full than empty".
